When had anything in the dream world made sense?

When he sits down the Mika doll moves, her movements jerky, and curls both her hands around her cup. Then it speaks. The mouth of the doll doesn't move but it's not a recorded voice. It's Mika's voice for sure but...well it's flat. Almost as if whatever made Mika herself when it came to her speech was stripped clean from her.
